Short and Sweet Book Reviews # 163 - The Core by Peter V Brett, Rogue by Anna Hackett, Bittersweet Christmas by Nina Croft

The Core (The Demon Cycle, #5)The Core by Peter V. Brett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A long last the last book in The Demon Cycle. At 28 hours long (an audio book) I got to see all of the characters from the previous 4 books. All were fighting the demons in what looked to be the final battle and things did not look good. At the same time Arlen and Jardir were working their way to the Core. This was a epic book with danger, tension, and fighting. It was good to see the end of the story but I have to admit I did not really like what happened to some of the characters. Not all had a happy ending.

Rogue (Galactic Gladiators, #8)Rogue by Anna Hackett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is two separate novellas featuring side characters from previous books. Ryan Nagano is a computer genius and she loves giving Zhim, a native information whiz, a hard time. When they have to work together sparks fly as they rescue another Earth woman. Neve Haynes is looking for her sister and has to work with Corsair a man of the desert as they face danger trying to get a map they need to find the hidden arena where her sister is held. While they find the map the rescue has not happened as the story ends Both couples find their HEA but there are still women who need to be rescued so there are more stories in this series left to be told.

Bittersweet ChristmasBittersweet Christmas by Nina Croft
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Winter is such a great character. Daughter of Father Christmas (boy is he a surprise) and a pixie she is a little impulsive. When she sets out to accomplish a task she has no boundaries. Ryan on the other hand is the opposite. He is very closed off and thinks that if he stays away from getting close to anyone he will keep them from harm. It was really fun to watch these two as they both have to work together. A really fun story with great characters, a interesting plot, and a tension filled romance.
